OUR MISSION

My name is Irena Valentine, and I am the founder of ic|GIS.

After more than a decade working in federal and local government in GIS roles, a decade in IT and Project Controls within the Oil & Gas corporate industry, as well as college-level teaching experience, the focus shifted toward applying my GIS expertise to help small teams achieve their goals through practical, reliable solutions.

The ic|GIS mission is to bring together public sector experience and industry practice to deliver clear, efficient, and application-focused GIS support.

FINDING THE GAP

Despite the wide range of GIS services available, many small GIS teams remain underserved due to high costs or limited access to practical support and guidance.
At ic|GIS, I focus on solutions that are grounded in real operational needs, practical to implement, and sustainable within the constraints of existing systems and resources.

BUILDING IC|GIS

ic|GIS was established to directly design and deliver GIS solutions—reducing unnecessary layers between problem and outcome through proven platforms such as Esri and QGIS.

While primarily an independent practice, I collaborate with a small network of trusted GIS professionals when needed, maintaining flexibility and consistent quality.

HOW WORK IS APPROACHED

The approach prioritizes clarity over complexity—what’s necessary, and what’s needed.
